Would you like to start a vegetable garden and grow healthy vegetables for yourself and your family, but you're not sure how to get started?
Have you been tending your vegetable garden for several years and are you tired of straining your back while digging and weeding—and not being able to step away to water it?
Discover the permaculture vegetable garden! A highly productive food garden that requires no tilling, almost no weeding, and very little water!
The secret? A living soil!
Objectives of the Permaculture Garden
The objective of this training is threefold:
- To provide you with all the knowledge you need to create and maintain a highly productive vegetable garden, in accordance with the principles of permaculture
- To help you understand the “why” behind your actions by simply illustrating the basic needs of plants and how living soil works
- To help you apply this knowledge through hands-on practice and observe its results in the Éco-Domaine’s vegetable gardens
By the end of this course, you’ll know how to easily grow an abundance of food without it becoming a chore, and you’ll learn techniques that will boost your efficiency tenfold!
You will also have gained an understanding of the general principles that govern soil fertility and plant health. This will help you avoid many mistakes and allow you to continue improving your skills once you get home.
Program
Based on the latest research in education, the training will alternate between theoretical sessions in large groups, practical applications in the garden, small-group exercises, and independent study.
We will cover:

- Living Soil Gardening in Practice:
- Creating and Laying Out a Vegetable Garden (raised beds, lasagna gardening, garden beds, square-foot gardening, etc.)
- No-till farming
- Mulching
- Successful Seeding and Planting in Covered Soil
- Making Your Own Compost and Potting Soil
- Optimizing Production in Terms of Time and Space
- Diseases and Pests
- Combining Vegetables in the Vegetable Garden: Why and, Above All, How
We will tour our demonstration vegetable gardens and explain their design and layout. The Éco-Domaine gardens will also serve as the venue for all our hands-on activities, which will help you fully grasp what you’ve learned.
This program is tentative and may be adjusted based on the participants' expectations and questions.
